About Me
Hi, I'm Tom Altena. I have a degree from Saxion in HBO-ICT and I am currently studying a Master’s in Computer Science at the University of Twente, specializing in Cybersecurity.
Projects
During my first internship for HBO-ICT, I worked atOVSoftwarein Enschede. During this internship, I developed a VR meeting application that allows users to hold meetings in a virtual reality environment. The entire application was built using the Unity engine, with a backend developed in .NET. The system was fully deployed using Microsoft Azure.
I completed my graduation project at OVSoftware, where I developed a bonus management system. The system allows employees to submit bonus requests, while managers can review, approve, and calculate bonuses within the platform.
Experience
Livio, Broekheurnerborch — Intern

As part of my studies, I completed a one-week internship at Livio. I worked with elderly residents, helping with coffee service, cleaning, doing dishes, and assisting during activities.
Jumbo, Roombeek — Shelf Stocker / Shift Leader / Recruiter
June 2019 – Present
Worked at Jumbo for several years on a zero-hour contract. Responsibilities included stocking shelves, cleaning the store, and assisting customers. Later promoted to supervisor roles, where I checked stock quality and eventually led the evening stocking team as shift leader. Due to the positive results I achieved, I was allowed to expand my responsibilities to be sort of recruiter, working on solicitations as part of my job.
OVSoftware — Software Engineering Working Student
April 2023 – September 2023
As a working student at OVSoftware, I contributed to software development projects within a professional team environment. My work focused on developing and maintaining applications using Java, C#, HTML, and CSS.
During this role, I gained practical experience in full-stack development, working in an agile environment, and collaborating with other developers on real-world software systems.
